Screening for other STIs.
Project Once Trece has incorporated screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as part of its comprehensive sexual health strategy, recognizing that early detection of these diseases is essential to prevent complications and promote community well-being.
In addition to HIV testing, we also screen for other common STIs such as syphilis, hepatitis B and C, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.
The importance of these screenings lies in the fact that many STIs can be asymptomatic for long periods of time, meaning that a person can be infected without knowing it, increasing the risk of transmission and complications if not treated in time.
Early detection through screening allows timely and effective treatment to be initiated, reducing the likelihood of transmission and preventing these infections from developing into more serious health problems. In addition, the screening process is accompanied by personalized counseling, education on safe sexual practices and access to prevention methods such as condoms and vaccines, contributing to a deeper understanding of sexual and reproductive health.
The Project Approach Once Trece is to create safe and respectful spaces where people can access STI screening services confidentially, receive support and resources for their well-being, and make informed decisions about their sexual health.
This work is essential to reduce the stigma associated with STIs, improve the quality of life of those living with these infections, and foster a culture of prevention and ongoing care in the community.
Project Once Trece not only focuses on the early detection of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), but also offers comprehensive treatment and support to those who receive a positive diagnosis at our care center.
Once the test is performed and the infection is confirmed, personalized medical care is provided, ensuring that each person receives the appropriate treatment according to their specific condition and needs. This includes antibiotics, antivirals and other medications necessary for the management and treatment of STIs such as syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and hepatitis B and C, all under the supervision of trained health professionals.
Treatment delivery is done quickly and discreetly, with the intention of making the process as comfortable and accessible as possible for the patient.
In addition to providing medication, guidance is offered on managing the infection, tips to reduce the risk of transmission, and education on safe sexual practices to prevent future infections. This comprehensive and empathetic approach seeks not only to treat the STI itself, but also to support the person in their overall well-being, ensuring their physical, mental and emotional health.
