Amaranta Gómez Regalado at the IAS 2019

This Sunday, July 21, as part of the X Conference of the International AIDS Society 2019, which is being held in Mexico City, the indigenous activist, Amaranta Gómez Regalado, was present in auditorium 1 of the Congress Unit of the National Medical Center Siglo XXI in the Mexican capital.

Her presentation focused on a study that aimed to demonstrate the experiences of indigenous people living with HIV and the progress they have made as an organization in establishing foundations and favorable scenarios that strengthen support for this community.

Amaranta, as a Zapotec muxe, had a space to reflect on and discuss the lessons and experiences of her approach to Mexican and Latin American indigenous communities, demonstrating how the complexity of immigration and poverty hinders the paths to improving living conditions.
